South of the Border

Perched atop a seaside cliff on Northern Nicaragua’s Pacific coast, this Nicaragua resort is a surf and yoga paradise where travelers go to seek adventure, tranquility, and a oneness with nature in the heart of Central America’s most wave-rich coastline. You don’t have to be a surfer or yogi to enjoy the sprawling cliffside property teeming with tropical plants, friendly pups, and a generous staff. For surfers, Amaru is located next to one of the best beach breaks in Central America, where barrels are on tap, especially during the summer. New surfers fear not; they offer lessons at a much calmer wave, just down the steps from their cliff-top resort. Yoga enthusiasts and first-timers alike will fall in love with the property’s teak tree house yoga shala that overlooks the ocean and is shaded by massive banyan trees.

Across the Pond

If you’re looking for a luxury ski vacation without breaking the bank, consider heading abroad. Skiing in the Alps, even at a luxury boutique like NOVA Moments, can be cheaper than going on the same trip in the States. Aside from the flight, ski rentals and ski passes in Europe are significantly more affordable, leaving room in the budget to splurge on a luxury ski lodge, like NOVA Moments. NOVA Moments is an adults-only luxury ski resort located high in the Austrian Alps in Pertisau. The building combines classic Tyrolean architecture with modern design and up-to-date amenities. It boasts thirty-four rooms, a spacious wellness area and spa, and easy access to Nordic trails for both cross-country skiing and ski touring. If you’d rather hit the slopes than the trails, head to Christlum, just fifteen minutes away.

Middle Beach Lodge – Tofino, Vancouver Island, British Colombia

While you may not think of Canada as a beach destination, Vancouver Island is home to one of the most stunning coastlines in the world. Hundred-foot-tall old-growth pines collide with a rocky, powerful Pacific coast. Hike in the coastal range or explore the bay and coast where sea lions, otters, grey whales, and orcas are frequent visitors. Middle Beach Lodge is an oceanfront lodge on 40 sprawling acres of secluded coastal wilderness on Vancouver Island’s west coast. If you’re looking for a unique adventure, this is it. The property contains two lodges, twenty cabins, and six treehouses, each offering a unique lodging experience in the heart of Vancouver Island’s wild coast.

Machu Picchu is likely on your bucket list if you’re visiting Peru. If you’re like me and you’d rather spend four days walking there on the Inca Trail than take a bus and wait in the lines of tourists to get into the ancient city, then you’ll be in dire need of a relaxing night after the hike. After four days of hiking, I spent the night at Casa Cartagena in Cusco, where I ate like a king, enjoying some of the finest local dishes Cusco’s dining scene had to offer, and reveled a hiker-specific recovery massage to help me unwind after my time on the trail. This Cusco Hotel is located between the Main Square (Plaza de Armas) and the San Blas neighborhood, allowing for easy access to Cusco’s many attractions.
